This drill was invented by Donovan at Point 1 Tactics.
1. Set up a USPSA target at 7 yards or a 6”x 6” piece of paper.
2. With the pistol in your support hand from a compressed position (elbow on or near hip, finger off trigger, slide parallel to the ground), press out and deliver a single hit to the headbox.
Donovan set an aggressive PASSING/EXPERT par time of 1.0 second. INTERMEDIATE= under 2.0. Beginners should focus on finding the front sight as quickly as possible and MAKING the hit- that is a feat in and of itself without time pressure. This drill emphasizes a smooth draw stroke/ press-out. With practice, you should find yourself fishing for the sights less and less.
