Trigger Warm-Ups

TRIGGER WORK: For pistol warm-ups I usually print out 1-2 inch dots or draw them with a Sharpie (the target in the photo is from T-Rex Arms- visit their site for free training materials). I stand 3-5 yards away, and perfect a smooth, straight back trigger press.

You can see my improvement left to right as I warmed up with 12 rounds at 3 yards, no time limit. I almost always push the first rounds low. To fix that, I focused on pulling the trigger straight back without disrupting the sights. I really started to improve accuracy by prepping the trigger (removing all of the slack), verifying my sight picture and breaking the shot.

There’s such a thing as taking TOO long on the trigger. Don’t overthink- just prep it, hold the gun still and break the shot. If you’re missing, unload the gun and dry fire at the circles. See if you can detect movement in the gun when you press the trigger.
