UNSUPPORTED LOADING DRILL
7 yards, 2 hits strong hand only, speed load, 2 hits support hand only, 10 yards. Use a standard USPSA target. (In this demo, I used c-zone steel at 20 yards).
A few tips for shooting unsupported.
1. Draw fast! Don’t slow down just because you have one hand.
2. Do something with your non-firing hand (I tuck it for stability).
3. Prep the trigger and carefully press it until the shot breaks. The key is to do this without moving the frame or disturbing the sights. This doesn’t mean slowly. It just means carefully and straight back.
3. Practice loading and transitions in dry practice. Learn to safely transition the pistol from one firing hand to the other without any fingers wandering into the trigger guard.
PAR:
PASS- 10 seconds or less
INTERMEDIATE- 6 seconds or less
EXPERT- 5 seconds or less
As always, add half (+ 0.5) a second for any hit outside of the A-zone.
