Rifle 1-RELOAD-3 DRILL
Place a USPSA target at 7 yards. Set up the rifle with one (1) round in the chamber and seat an empty magazine. Have a magazine with at least 3 rounds in it on your person. Deliver one (1) hit to the A-zone (body), perform a bolt lock reload, and deliver two (2) hits to the A-zone body and one (1) hit to the headbox.
EXPERT: 3.8 seconds or less
INTERMEDIATE: 4.5 seconds or less
PASS: 6.0 seconds or less
Add 0.5 seconds for any hits outside A-zone. ANY hit in the 6” x 6” headbox counts.
Note: I perform in-shoulder reloads. I do not use the safety during the reload because I am not dismounting the rifle from my shoulder. Using the safety is a personal choice and one that I will certainly make if I transition to a pistol or otherwise dismount the rifle. Remember mechanical offset. At this distance you must aim above the desired point of impact (approx 2-2.5” with an Aimpoint) in order to make an effective hit.
